Scammers typically send the download link through Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS, or pose as a fake website or social media advertisement. These PhonePe Clone Apps fake apps are never and will never be found on the official Play Store.
After the installation of the fake app, it will ask the user to give it a number of permissions that can compromise the security of the user such as access to SMS, screen recording, contacts, and accessibility control. Next, the user gets tricked into giving their UPI PIN, OTP, or login details.
