🔹Law Summary (English):

Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) deals with abetment (encouragement or instigation) of suicide.
If any person helps, forces, encourages, or instigates someone to take their own life, that person is legally responsible and can be punished under this section.

In short, this law punishes those whose words or actions push another person toward suicide.


🔹In Simple Hindi:

Agar koi kisi vyakti ko suicide karne ke liye majboor karta hai, chahe wo dhamki de, torture kare, ya emotional pressure dale — to wo vyakti IPC Section 306 ke tahat doshi mana jata hai.
Chahe kisi ne khud apni jaan li ho, agar kisi ne uske dimaag me ye baat daali, usse mentally torture kiya, ya use provoke kiya — to wo insaan guilty hoga.

  1. Abetment = Provoking or Helping:
    • Kisi ko suicide ke liye instigate (bhadkana) karna
    • Suicide me madad karna
    • Ya kisi par pressure banana
  2. Intention Matters:
    • Court dekhte hai ki kya accused ne jaan-boojh kar victim ko suicide ke liye provoke kiya tha.
  3. Proof Required:
    • Victim ke suicide note, messages, calls, ya eyewitness important saboot hote hain.
  4. Punishment:
    • Up to 10 years imprisonment, and
    • Fine may also be imposed.

  • 🔹Case 1:
    A husband continuously insults, beats, and mentally tortures his wife. One day, she commits suicide.
  • 🔹Here, husband can be charged under Section 306 IPC because his cruelty and behavior led her to end her life.
  • 🔹Case 2:
    A friend repeatedly bullies another on social media, abuses, and threatens him. The victim later commits suicide.
  • 🔹This is also a case of abetment of suicide under Section 306 IPC.
