Tech Support Fraud and remote access frauds are different types of scams in which fraudsters pretend to be customer support representatives of famous companies like Microsoft, Apple, banks or antivirus companies. They usually initiate the contact by phone, pop-up alert or message that will tell you that your device is infected, hacked or compromised.
Next, to “fix” the issue, scammers convince users to install a remote access software like AnyDesk or TeamViewer. At the same time when the user is granting the access, they get trapped by the fraudster who later on monitors their activities, steals their password, accesses the bank accounts and sometimes they even lock the device until the money is paid.
